An overview of the School

The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya doesn’t need any introduction because the name if enough to describe the journey of this prestigious brand. In fact, it is known and popular in all over India and famous worldwide. The school is affiliated with West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education and West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, WBBSE, WBCHSE. The school provides the fully residential facility for only boys located in Narendrapur, Kolkata India. The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya is a unit of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama.

The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Kolkata envisioned in the image of Indian Gurukul system where precious traditional learning strategies to modern educational concepts are being integrated with the aim to provide value and quality based education. It follows the trail as a paradigm of excellence to promote its culture and tradition. Every member of this school including its students and staff all enjoy the blessings of Sri Ramakrishna and the Holy Mother, Sri Saradadevi.

The school has very interesting history it was the first schools in West Bengal which offered instructions in six streams, viz. Science, Humanities, Agriculture, Technical, Commerce and Fine Arts till 1975. Thereafter the school committee decided to convert the school into a Secondary School under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, with Bengali and English as the medium of instructions. At the year 2005, the school starts offering Higher Secondary classes with word class facilities and academics curriculum which includes Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology / Statistics along with compulsory Bengali and English. 

An outline of the Infrastructure

The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Kolkata consists of two separate campuses, each with its own school called an academic building and another one is hostels for boys. School provides separate departments for junior and senior boys even provide separate academics buildings to hostels. The school has its own wide extensive playground where students not only enjoy playing the variety of games and sports but also they get chance to perform various other activities to represent their talents. On the other hand separate labs, to the well-equipped library, spacious classrooms gymnasium, a spacious auditorium, and multipurpose hall. At present time school have more than 850 students.

Students come here from different parts of India. They also have different religious faiths. Some of them belong to scheduled castes and tribes.
