Saskatchewan is a prairie and boreal province in western Canada. It is the only province without natural borders. It has an area of 651,900 square kilometers (251,700 square mi), nearly 10% of which (59,366 square kilometers (22,900 square mi)) is fresh water, composed mostly of rivers, reservoirs, and the province's 100,000 lakes. Education in Saskatchewan follows a curriculum of learning set out by the Government of Saskatchewan through the Ministry of Education. The curriculum sets out to develop skills, knowledge, and understanding to improve the quality of life. In Saskatchewan, education is generally categorized as Elementary (primary school and public school), followed by Secondary (high school) and Post-secondary (university and college).
